Mayor's Citizen of the Year 2008/9

The 780th Mayor of Bath is searching for her Citizen of the Year.  Councillor Sharon Ball wants to thank volunteers who help to enhance the quality of life in the City.   All those who live, work or belong to a group based in Bath can be nominated.

The Mayor said: “My theme is ‘Caring’ so I have met many selfless souls who work tirelessly to support others.  All kinds of volunteers deserve recognition, whether they run sports, music or drama clubs, or fund raise for charity.  I would like to thank them on behalf of the whole community – what would we do without them?”

If you know someone who deserves a pat on the back just complete the nomination form and send it to the Mayor’s Office in the Guildhall by Friday 29 February 2008.  It does not matter if they have been entered before, as long as they have not actually won the award.

At a special ceremony the Mayor will present this year’s Citizens with a piece of Bath Aqua Glass and runners up will each receive a certificate.

 THE AWARD

The Mayor of Bath's Citizen of the Year Award seeks to recognise exceptional volunteers who give their time and effort to helping other people without expecting anything in return. The award is open to residents of Bath who have contributed to the well-being of the City and its people by long-term voluntary work or one very special act.
