Introduction to the Mayor of Bath Website

Bath is a World Heritage Site in the South West of England. It is a City known primarily for its Roman and Georgian heritage. The spa waters and elegant architecture attract many visitors from all over the world.

This website provides an introduction to the role and function of the Mayor of Bath and the rich history that surrounds this ceremonial position.

The Mayor plays a significant ambassadorial role within the City, including welcoming visitors and maintaining links with international partners. The Mayoralty is separate from the Council and has no political power.

The current Mayor, Councillor Andrew Furse (pictured), was elected to office at the annual Mayor Making ceremony held in Bath Abbey on 9th June 2012.
